SpaceAI 2025 Intensive Collaboration Camp

Track: Scientist Track
Venue: Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI)
Date: August 28 (Thu) – August 29 (Fri), 2025

Experts gathered for two days to intensively carry out key tasks related to AI model development and evaluation for three astronomy and space-science research projects identified through the SpaceAI 2025 program. Each team prepared actionable plans ready for immediate research use, including dataset construction, model architecture design, and test strategy development.

Progress Summary of Scientist Track Projects

1. SEP Prediction Model (KASI Team)

  • Confirmed the model development direction and created an initial SEP-event dataset
  • Explored candidate model families and established an initial testing plan

2. Kp Prediction Model (KASI Team)

  • Refined the goal from “predict all Kp” to a model that operates specifically under CME conditions
  • Adjusted the dataset to align with the CME event list
  • Established an initial testing plan

3. Galaxy Merger Model (Sejong Univ. / Ewha Womans Univ. / Yonsei Univ. Team)

  • Resolved an IBS computing resource access issue
  • Deployed a test model to the IBS system and conducted initial tests
  • Outlined a development plan and held detailed discussions for full-scale model development

The 2nd KASI–KAIST Astronomy & Space AI Competition

Track: Citizen Scientist Track
Venue: Online
Date: July 7–25

The Astronomy & Space AI Competition, hosted by KASI and KAIST, is designed to foster new research outcomes in space science by applying AI techniques and to evaluate AI model performance. Participants worked on tasks involving space-data analysis and AI model development. This competition served as a meaningful opportunity to advance space exploration and data analysis through the convergence of space science and AI.
